Tell us about yourself.

I completed my undergrad at King’s College in London, UK where I studied Business Management. I actually did an exchange where I came back to Toronto (where I’m originally born and raised) and spent some time at the University of Toronto as well. I took some really interesting courses such as Intro to Socio-Legal Studies and it really opened me up to the world of law. I’ve wanted to be a lawyer since high school but these courses really helped to solidify that as a goal in undergrad. In my third year I joined the KCL Blockchain Society where I dove right into tech. In my first two summers of undergrad I worked in the IT Capital Markets department at CIBC. I didn't know anything about technology before this role at CIBC but I ended up loving the experience and joining the Blockchain Society. Something there really sparked my interest because I saw so few women in the tech industry and it became my passion to strive for diversity in tech. When I saw Ryerson Law’s programming I thought, “This is a sign. This school is for me! I was meant to go to Ryerson” specifically because of their focus on tech and law.

What area of law would you like to practice?

I’m interested in Entertainment and Sports law as well as Real Estate law, or any area where I can leverage my business background. Regardless of the area of law, I hope to integrate technology into all of my legal practice.

Why did you choose Ryerson Law?

It was absolutely 100% the intersection between tech and law that was depicted in the programming. Also, I liked that I'd be a part of something brand new and have the ability to say that I was one of the first students at Ryerson Law. I think that once we enter the job market, having received a J.D. from Ryerson Law is going to really stand out.

What do you hope to accomplish with your J.D.?

To be the first female Head of Legal of Google Canada in seven years or less.

As a part of the inaugural cohort of Ryerson Law, what are you most looking forward to?

First of all....Getting my law degree! I've been waiting so long for this. I’m also really excited to build the reputation of Ryerson Law. There is so much opportunity to make this school great. I can see the passion in our cohort and I really believe we’re going to take this far. By the time we graduate, the goal is to have a J.D. from Ryerson Law carry a lot of weight in the legal industry.
